Position Name: Technical Business Development Director, AI for DoD

Location: Hybrid in Washington, D.C.

Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role: We are hiring a Director of Federal Business Development to lead Jaxon’s expansion across the U.S. federal government. You’ll own the growth strategy for defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies, working cross-functionally with leadership, engineering, and strategy teams. This is a strategic role with significant autonomy and upside.

Beyond pipeline generation and deal execution, you’ll also help write and shape federal proposals, RFIs, and white papers — working hands-on with technical teams to bring compelling narratives to life. You’ll represent Jaxon at in-person industry events, customer meetings, and federal forums, helping position us as the premier solution for high-assurance AI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, qualify, and close opportunities within the DoD, IC, and federal civilian agencies.
  • Develop deep relationships with mission owners, acquisition officers, primes, and partners.
  • Drive pipeline generation via direct outreach, industry events, and federal channels (e.g. SBIR, OTAs, BAAs).
  • Shape proposals, white papers, and RFIs in collaboration with technical teams.
  • Influence Jaxon’s roadmap with insights from federal customers and mission needs.
  • Represent Jaxon in federal forums, conferences, and proposal defense.
  • Lead teaming strategy with large primes, system integrators, and boutique AI vendors.
  • Maintain situational awareness of acquisition timelines, contracting vehicles, and federal budgets.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in federal business development, capture, or sales.
  • Demonstrated success selling emerging technologies into DoD, IC, or federal agencies.
  • Deep familiarity with government acquisition pathways (FAR, OTAs, IDIQs, SBIR/STTR, etc).
  • Strong network of relationships across mission owners and contracting offices.
  • Technical understanding of AI/ML, with ability to translate product capabilities into mission value.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and proposal development skills.
  • Clearance (Secret or higher) strongly preferred, but not required.
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience at a venture-backed startup or fast-growth government tech firm.
  • Experience navigating CDAO, AFWERX, and DARPA ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with dual-use commercialization strategy (e.g. DIU, In-Q-Tel, NSIC).
