Industrial Engineer Lead, Maritime Production System Design
Design · Full-time
Santa Ana, CA, USA
USD 166k-220k / year + Equity
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Anduril’s Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials for cutting-edge defense hardware. The team is developing deployable static and moving surface, undersea and sea to air vehicles, and scaling these products in our new manufacturing facilities.
ABOUT THE JOB
As the Lead Industrial Engineer on the Production Controls team, you will lead the critical chain production model and act as flex capacity across scheduling and production control. You will own the integrated schedule model across programs and shared resources, and keep it current as demand and capacity change for Anduril's advanced AI factory. This is a hands-on role helping solve manufacturing problems at scale.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Plant and equipment layouts, material flow paths, and space allocation for a new maritime factory.
- Build the production model: precedence networks, resource definitions, durations, and constraints.
- Integrate frequent changes into the model and keep it matched to how work actually runs.
- Size and manage buffers; track consumption and drive recovery.
- Capacity plans and rate models: units per year under a given configuration, with the sensitivity analysis behind the number.
- Sequencing of operations and work flow: how a build is broken into stations, what runs in parallel, where the unit sits and for how long.
- Discrete-event simulation of the factory and the line, used as the primary way we validate capacity before the building exists.
- Designing and optimizing the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
- Feeding the precedence network that our dynamic scheduling system (LOKI) plans against.
- Technical direction on production system design across VCS and Megalodon build processes: you set the method, others execute it.
- Requirements to our architecture/engineering firm and outside consultants, and review of what comes back.
- The trade studies that close at design review: building configuration, bay allocation, automation degree, station count.
- Flex to cover scheduling and production control gaps.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Industrial engineering, production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations background. No degree required. We hire on demonstrated capability. Apprenticeship, Navy Nuclear Power School, military experience, trade background, or self-taught modeling all count.
- Critical chain, theory of constraints, or buffer management experience.
- Low volume, high mix, or engineered-to-order environment.
- Comfortable operating without direct supervision and making calls within defined limits.
- Demonstrated capacity or rate modeling: you have built the model, defended the number, and been held to it.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years in production system design, factory design, or manufacturing engineering for large complex products, including at least one program where you owned the capacity or rate commitment.
- Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations research, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field.
- Shipyard or aerospace final-assembly experience: stage of construction, module breakdown, pre-outfitting, erection sequence.
- Greenfield or major-expansion factory work.
- MES/ERP fluency (Forge, Odoo, SAP, Solumina, Oracle).
- Aurora scheduling system experience preferred.
